Activities of the Divisions
Shinshuren has promoted local activities in each of the eleven divisions,
from Hokkaido to Kyushu. It took thirty years to established the eleven
divisions, the first having been formed in the Kinki area in 1951 and the
most recent in the Tohoku area in 1981. For its 30th anniversary, Shinshuren
decided to promote grass-roots inter-religious activities. It was a special
opportunity to establish local activities. Fifty five branchies have developed
unique and original activities, including the creation of regional religious
leagues, participation in environmental movements, doing volunteer works,
and so on.
